Go Barefoot Day – June 1

June 1 is the day to shed off your shoes and walk barefoot on the grass.

No matter where you are, at work, on a picnic, anywhere, just kick off the footgear. It's time to clean the closet and give away with shoes that you don't need.

More importantly, it's a custom this day to donate a pair of shoes to charity, for the unfortunate who can't afford to buy a pair of their own.

The organization behind this special day is Soles4Souls, a nonprofit global social enterprise that initiated the Go Barefoot Day in the wake of the Tsunami disaster in the Indian Ocean on December 26, 2004. More than a million and a half people were left unsheltered, deprived of all their belongings, homes, clothes and shoes, everything.

The Go Barefoot Day was proclaimed in 2005.

Since then, donations of shoes keep flowing in, and so far over 26 million pairs of shoes have been handed out to the needy all over the globe.

World Wish Day - April 29

In 1978, five-year-old boy Chris Greicius was diagnosed with stage 4 leukemia. Doctors said he had 3 more years to live and he told his mother he wanted to be a cop. In April 1980, officers in Phoenix, Arizona, heard about it and decided to make his dream come true. They had no charity or donations and they managed on their own to recruit a helicopter and take Chris to town to turn him into a cop. Young Chris was a police officer for one day on April 29, 1980. A few days later he was rushed to the hospital and died.
Other people who have heard about it thought that fulfilling wishes for sick children is a great idea. The Make-A-Wish Foundation was founded and has become one of the most well-known charities in the world. The foundation has since fulfilled dreams for more than 250,000 terminally ill children.

Chris' story led to the creation of World Wish Day, the day the police fulfilled his dream. Today there are 48 countries in the world celebrating this day. On this day raise awareness of the importance of contributing to sick children and the fulfillment of their dreams.
If you want to celebrate this day, spread the message on social media, donate money to charity or if you know a sick child, refer him to the organization.

April 29 is also Zipper Day and International Dance Day

Giving Tuesday- Tuesday after Thanksgiving

International Giving Tuesday, known in English as Giving Tuesday, falls on the Tuesday following American Thanksgiving. This day is meant to remind people that the holidays mean more than shopping, and that after the big shopping days (Chinese Singles Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday), it's time to give back.
Giving Tuesday was created by two organizations: "92nd Street Y" and "The United Nations Foundation" in 2012, a month before Thanksgiving that year. Their intention was to dedicate a day to philanthropic deeds, and to celebrate the generosity that is a blessed American tradition.

They started the celebrations on social media, and were immediately joined by many partners, companies, organizations and associations such as the United Nations, Cisco, Mashabel, Iraq and Afghanistan War Veterans (IAVA), Sony, Aldo, Gropon, UNICEF, Google, Skype, Microsoft and Unilever.
The first announcement about the founding of the day of giving was made through the Mashable website, a technology website. This day is extensively reviewed by the Washington Post, The Huffington Post, ABC News, Deseret News, and the official White House blog. Thus this day gained immense popularity in a short time.
In 2013 more organizations like ebay (which gives one percent of its total revenue from sales this week to today's goals) joined fashion designer Kevin Cole, who also designed bracelets to promote this day and donated 100% of his revenue to Giving Tuesday.
On International Giving Day, it is the practice of individuals, schools, families, businesses and other organizations to give and help as much as possible to others.
